Supporting Workers in the Golf Industry

To sustain the ongoing support GolfRSA will activate golf’s considerable network of professional golfers, sport stars, celebrities, captains of industry and the general public to contribute through a donations platform, a series of auctions and a raffle initiative to boost the COVID-19 GolfRSA Help Fund. The exciting items on auction include: rounds of golf with some of SA’s iconic current and past golf legends and sport stars, golf destination packages at top courses, getaways at luxury lodges and safari venues, art, wine and sporting memorabilia.

GolfRSA has already allocated R1 million- savings from the cancellation of national tournaments and voluntary staff salary reductions and funds from its National Squad programme – towards the COVID-19 GolfRSA Help Fund.

“Golf has always been a vehicle used to raise money for charity,” explained GolfRSA CEO Grant Hepburn. “We know that many people and organisations are feeling the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic right now and it has affected both the general golfing public, as well as corporates. “Under these circumstances and trying times, any possible support of this project would help us to ensure the GolfRSA Help Fund will be sustainable for years to come. Together, we can continue to make positive contributions to the vulnerable people and organisations across the golf industry.”

A series of online auctions will be hosted on the Strauss & Co website to raise funds for this worthy cause. The 15% Buyer’s Premium payable to Strauss & Co will also be donated to the fund.

The first auction in the series is now open for bidding and closes on Monday 22 June at 8pm.
