Alan Wolton

English 1934- 

Alan Wolton was born in England in 1934 and emigrated with his parents to Johannesburg soon after. After forays into formal education, for a time attending the University of Cape Town’s Michaelis School of Fine Art and later the Polytechnic School of Art of Regent Street in London, UK, he became a professional artist at age twenty. In 1955, Wolton held his first solo show in Greenwich Gallery, Johannesburg. In 1982, he moved to the United States, where he continues to work and live.
