Dagmar Van Weeghel

Dutch 1974- 

Dagmar van Weeghel, born in 1974, is a Dutch photographer and filmmaker whose work explores human connection and cultural storytelling. After studying film and photography at the Netherlands Film Academy, she spent over 14 years in Africa working on community-driven film projects. Her experiences in countries like Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana, Uganda, and South Africa deeply influence her art. Van Weeghel is focused on advocacy, aiming to highlight marginalised voices, especially women and girls. In 2021, she completed a year-long residency at Fondation Blachere in France, and her work is held in collections such as the Hague Historical Museum and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
