Mel Brigg

South African 1950- 


Mel Brigg, a self-taught artist, was born in South Africa in 1950. He started painting full-time in the 1970s and relocated to Australia in 1993. His artwork focuses on themes of displacement, conflict, and other human struggles. Brigg participated in numerous shows in South Africa between 1971 and 2000 and has also exhibited in Europe and throughout Australia. His work can be found in collections such as those of the South African Embassies in Singapore, Canada, and Belgium; Queensland State Government, Australia; Amnesty International in Victoria, Australia; Stellenbosch University; and Standard Bank.
