Moffat Takadiwa

Zimbabwean 1983-

Moffat Takadiwa is a Zimbabwean visual artist whose work often explores themes of identity, culture, and the impact of consumerism. Born in Tengwe, Zimbabwe, in 1983, he is part of the post-independence generation of artists in the country. Takadiwa frequently incorporates found objects into his pieces, particularly discarded items and electronic waste, transforming them into intricate and powerful statements about the contemporary world. Through his work, Takadiwa invites viewers to reconsider the relationship between waste, value, and the environment, while highlighting the role of art as a tool for social commentary and change. In 2016, he co-founded Mbare Art Space in Harare, where he currently lives and works. In addition to exhibiting in Zimbabwe, Takadiwa has held solo shows in France, Romania, South Africa, the UK, and the USA.
