Nina Kruger

South African 

Nina Kruger is a contemporary fibre artist with a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Pretoria and an MA from The Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Art in Poznań, Poland. With eight years of experience in the commercial textile industry, her practice blends academic and practical expertise. Kruger recently exhibited at the Poznań Textile Biennale and I Dreamt of an Empty Forest exhibition in 2023. She has also participated in residencies through SAFFCA at Entabeni Urban Farm and Witklipfontein Eco Farm. Upcoming exhibitions include the Free State Arts Festival and Infinite Threads at AVA Gallery, Cape Town.


Kruger’s work is inspired by her surroundings, incorporating plants, animals, and human-made materials into her unique felting technique, which reveals hybrid materials through repeated stabs
on foam. Her practice reflects an interest in post-humanism and new materialism, encouraging a rethinking of the interconnectedness of all beings and prompting a reconsideration of our relationship with nature.
