Paul Blomkamp

South African 1949- 

Paul Blomkamp was born in 1949 in Johannesburg. A mostly self-taught artist, he created stained glass windows until 1993, when he decided to focus exclusively on painting. The influence of his time as a stained glass artist is evident in his paintings. Blomkamp’s interest lies in light, colour, and energy.

Blomkamp was commissioned to create numerous stained glass works for public and corporate buildings, such as St Stithians College Chapel, State Theatre Pretoria, and Absa Bank. His works are also included in the collections of Investec, Telkom, and IBM, amongst others.
