Raïssa Karama Rwizibuka

Congolese 1997- 

Raïssa Karama Rwizibuka, born in 1997, is a Congolese photographer based in Bukavu, South Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Her work centres on social issues, particularly the daily struggles and violence faced by women in her community. Through her photography, Rwizibuka aims to illuminate these injustices and advocate for women’s emancipation. She has collaborated with international media such as the BBC, Le Monde, and various humanitarian organisations. Rwizibuka is also involved in the Kitoko Oyo project of Focus Congo, through which she hopes to present a new narrative of African youth via photography.
