Roelof Rossouw

South African 1957-

Roelof Rossouw was born in 1957 and raised in Benoni, outside of Johannesburg. In 1981, he obtained a National Diploma in Art and Design from the Johannesburg School of Art. Following his graduation, he worked as a medical illustrator and graphic artist at the Medical University of South Africa, now known as Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. He has been exhibiting steadily since 1988, in South Africa, Europe, and North America, and, in the early 1990s, Rossouw transitioned to being a full-time artist. His works are impressionistic in style and he primarily paints in oils but also utilises collage, acrylic, and mixed media. Notably, three of his paintings were featured in the movie "Invictus," with two of them subsequently becoming part of the collection of the film's director, Clint Eastwood.
