Ruan Hoffmann

South African 1971- 

Ruan Hoffmann is known for his intricate and vibrant ceramics that explore themes of identity, language, and power. These idea-rich and ambiguous pieces draw on a diverse range of influences and cultural references.

One of the hallmarks of his work is the use of text, which he incorporates into the pieces in a variety of ways. Whether inscribing entire phrases onto the surface of a vase, or embedding individual letters and words within a larger design, the use of language adds an extra layer of meaning to his work. This is particularly relevant given Hoffmann's interest in issues related to language and identity, which he explores through his art. His work is included in various national and international collections, and most recently exhibited as part of Ceramics Now in Paris .The artists lives and works in Amsterdam the Netherlands.
