Sara Abbott

Kenyan/South African 1945- 

Sara Abbot was born in Kenya in 1945 but has lived for the last 20 years in the village of Stanford in the Overberg, Western Cape. Her pastel drawings focus on the surrounding countryside, and as the climate warms, she witnesses the transformation of her environment. The rising waters of the Klein River and the disappearing evidence of riverine insects and bird life are observations she documents with intuitive colour sense in her pastel drawings.
