Shepherd Ndudzo

Zimbabwean 1978- 

Shepherd Ndudzo grew up in Zimbabwe where his father Barnabus established himself as a well-known sculptor. Ndudzo acknowledges his father’s influence in teaching him his carving skills. Ndudzo transforms ironwood (olea capensis), marble, and granite into sculptures of silken lustre. His honed technique enables ancient, dense ironwood, defying its weight and density, to metamorphose into powerful, romantic imagery. Ndudzo has participated in numerous international cultural symposiums worldwide. He was awarded the sculpture prize at the 2012 Beijing Biennial and invited to teach sculpture courses at St Anselm College in New Hampshire Massachusetts.
