Tracy Algar

South African 1971- 

Tracy Algar was born in 1971 in Cape Town and currently lives in Stanford. She is a landscape painter, particularly those in the Overberg region. Algar is interested in the way that light plays on the landscape, changing shape and shadows depending on the time of day. She works en plein air, and painting within the environment forces her to deal with the unpredictability of weather and light, which creates spontaneity and energy in her brushstrokes.
