Zach Mukwira

Zimbabwean 1968- 

Zach Mukwira was born in 1968 in the Makonde district of Zimbabwe and studied visual arts, dance, theatre, and drama at the Zimbabwe Integration Through Arts (ZITA). He is a self-employed visual artist who works mainly in oils and acrylics. Mukwira draws inspiration from African myths, folk tales, and legends, infusing his work with a captivating aesthetic formality of colour, woven lines, and texture. He has participated in several group and solo exhibitions in Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, the UK, and the USA. Recently his work was included in Reimagining the Arts at the Gallery of the University of Stellenbosch (GUS) and Science Meets Art at the Rupert Museum, Stellenbosch. Currently, Mukwira resides in Gordon’s Bay with his wife, Nomsa, who is also an artist.
