About this Item
Founded in 1988 by the charismatic and universally admired Beyers Truter, known as the father of Pinotage for his abiding championing of the proudly South African grape, and chief winemaker at Kanonkop Estate from 1981 to 2003. Beyers is a member of the Cape Winemakers Guild, has been nominated for the IWC Wine Personality of the Year, and won the Robert Mondavi award for World Winemaker of the year in 1991. He has also won South African Wine Producer of the Year 2003, IWSC.
Named after Beyers' trusty canine companion, Diesel proudly features on the elegant label that is now well established as one of the top modern expressions of the variety, confirmed by multiple accolades and awards. This 2010 vintage won Anri Truter (Beyers' son) the Diners Club International Young Winemaker of the Year award.

Critics Ratings
'Barrel selection flagship, with all-new French oaking. Combines power with refinement; brooding dark flavours, creamy waves with freshness, structure for long haul.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2014, 4.5*
'A sense of brooding in the powerful ripe fruit packed nose. Dark cherry and plum lead the way with dark, rose fragrance in the background. Big, rich, full entry into the mouth with massive wave of ripe, dark, berry fruit flavours. Creamy flow across the palate with big but refined structure. Clean oak support with some lively, youthful tannins. Juicy, full fruited flow into long finish with promise of many years of development.' - IWSC 2014, Silver Outstanding Award
