About this Item

2000 Pinotage
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Spice Route Winery gets its name from the ancient mariners who braved the seas around the Cape of Good Hope to trade their exotic Eastern spices with the Western world. This was known as the ‘Spice Route’. Charles Back founded Spice Route which is located in the Swartland wine region. The signature style of their wines is robust, spicy red wines. Charles Back’s first vintage of Spice Route was 1998 and until 2000 a young Eben Sadie was winemaker. The Spice Route reds from 1998-2000 have shown incredible longevity and prowess.

The flagship Pinotage was harvested from bush vines at Klein Amos Kuil in Malmesbury. The vineyard is on a South facing slope, at an altitude of about 150 meters above sea level. The soils on this farm are deep red Malmesbury shales.

A rare collector's item!
