About this Item
One of the crowns in the Distell fine wine portfolio, this beautiful and established 1000ha Franschhoek property with its imaginative winery architecture has a history that dates back to the French Huguenot settlement in the Cape in the 17th century. In 1693, Cape Governor Simon van der Stel granted land to Charles Marais who named the farm after his hometown, Le Plessis Marly. Later in the hands of his grandson, Jacob, the estate grew to one of the finest in the region.
Under recent SFW stewardship since 1993, the brand developed a plush, polished style of reds, that are ready for drinking upon release. The top vintages however, including this '99, has the ability to age well.

Critics Ratings
'A browning colour gives away the age that is otherwise well concealed in this youthful Cabernet. Light in style for this property, with only 13.5% alcohol. Elegant garrigue and mint flavours with cedar and soft plummy fruit. Delicate and harmonious. This must be very stable to be showing in this condition, but best not to take chances and drink in its peak. Impressive.' - Higgo Jacobs, 2017
