About this Item
Château Feytit-Clinet is a leading Bordeaux wine estate in the Pomerol appellation, known for its Merlot-based wine of the same name. As with all other Pomerol properties, it is not part of any official classification. It has been gaining increasing acclaim for recent vintages, while prices remain relatively modest. The documented history of Feytit Clinet reaches back to 1825. It was leased to Ets. Moueix from 1964 to 2000, and then, following various legal wrangles, control passed to the Chasseuil family, who inherited half of the estate from one member of the owning family and eventually bought the other half from the city of Bordeaux.
'This property has come of age over the last five or six years and is now routinely one of the better wines of Pomerol. Its 16-acre vineyard is strategically well placed between Trotanoy and Latour a Pomerol. Yields in 2011 were a small 30 hectoliters per hectare, and the final blend was 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. Tasted on three separate occasions, the 2011 Feytit-Clinet consistently performed well, exhibiting a deep ruby/purple color in addition to abundant notes of plums, blueberries and black cherries, outstanding ripeness, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, well-integrated acidity and moderate tannin. This big Pomerol should age easily for two decades.' – Robert Parker

Critics Ratings
‘Another big-time winner, the 2011 boasts a blue/black/purple color and thick, rich, meaty, blood-like berry fruit intermixed with hints of truffles and licorice. This formidably endowed wine (one of the most concentrated of the vintage) has no hard edges. The final blend was 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. Give it another 3-4 years to develop a few nuances aromatically, and drink it over the following 10-15 years.’ – Robert Parker Jr, Wine Advocate, 95/100 (Apr 2014)
‘Sleek, fresh and forward, with a good beam of raspberry pâte de fruit lined with toasted spice, tea and incense notes. Focused finish. Drink now through 2018.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 88/100 (Mar 2014)
‘Black core and dark cherry rim. Rich, dark and exotic on the nose. Finest of tannins and lots of fresh juicy fruit in the middle. Firm tannic build; not dry, just pretty embryonic.’ – Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Apr 2012)
