Batailley Pauillac 2007
'Here that leafy note is slight and makes an inviting, scented first impression. Cassis leaf freshness. Very attractive lightness of touch that suits the vintage. Harmonious and fully resolved with a nice dark note on the relatively long finish.' - Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20 (Feb 2017)
'Aromas of sweet berries and flowers lead to a medium body, with a delicate fruit palate, silky tannins and a fresh finish. Best after 2011.' - Wine Spectator (Mar 2010)
Batailley Pauillac 2010
‘With advice from consultant and Bordeaux University professor Denis Dubourdieu, Batailley has improved immensely in the past few years. This 2010 reinforces that trend, revealing a wine that is structured with Cabernet Sauvignon and is attractive with black currant fruitiness. Age for the medium-term.’ – Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 94/100 (Feb 2013)
‘This sports suave, mocha-infused toast, showing notes of dark plum, blackberry sauce and steeped fig. The dense, cocoa-coated finish has a smoldering tobacco note in the background. Rustic and slightly chewy in the end, but a bit of cellaring should tame this easily. Best from 2014 through 2026.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 91/100 (Mar 2013)
d'Armailhac Pauillac 2009
‘Deliciously fruity, with chocolate notes and acidity. The wine has dense but soft tannins that merge seamlessly into the black fruits. It is ripe, sweet, densely juicy.’ – Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 93/100 (Feb 2012)
‘The 2009 d’Armailhac has a lovely bouquet with ample blackberry, boysenberry, graphite and light mint aromas – very Pauillac and very well focused. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannin, moderate acidity, good depth and very grippy. It is not the most complex Pauillac in this group but there is a fine persistence with pure black cherry and hints of cassis towards the finish. Fine.’ - Neal Martin, Vinous, 92/100 (Feb 2019)
Haut-Bages Libéral Pauillac 2012
‘Barrel sample. Concentration is the name of the game with this dark and intense wine. It has power and a structure that is finely tannic and dusty, with bright fruits suspended within. The aftertaste shows fine, bright acidity.’ – Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 94/100 (Apr 2013)
‘The 2012 reveals good, sweet tannin, blackcurrant fruit, a nice, soft underbelly, medium to full body, and outstanding concentration and purity. This property is always somewhat under the radar, but this is a very strong effort and should drink well for up to 20 years.’ – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 90/100 (Apr 2015)
Haut-Batailley Pauillac 2005
'Deep dark crimson. Well balanced and fresh. Zippy. Lots of racy freshness at last!' - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Feb 2017)
'Offers a beautiful nose of crushed blackberry and cherry, with hints of flowers. Full-bodied, with a lovely balance of silky, caressing tannins and ripe fruit. Very long and minerally, with mint and eucalyptus character. A wonderful wine from this estate. Best after 2014.' - Wine Spectator, 93/100 (Mar 2008)
Pontet-Canet Pauillac 2012
‘Broad and fleshy, with an alluring feel to the layers of steeped plum, blackberry coulis and raspberry reduction notes, all gliding over ample but polished tannins. Loam, tobacco and warm stone accents stay in the background for now but add steady base notes to the finish. Packs in solid fruit for the vintage, with a commensurate tug of earth. Best from 2017 through 2025.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Sep 2015)
‘This tastes jammy and very fruity, with tannins that are totally enveloped by the rich texture. Plummy and comfortable, it's all about ripe berries and currants. Smoky flavors come from the wood aging, and contrast with the Port-like lusciousness of the wine.’ – Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 92/100 (May 2015)
