About this Item
Salvioni is a leader in the cult Brunello genre, along with the likes of Soldera and Biondi-Santi. Based in Montalcino, Salvioni owns one of the commune’s best and most well-recognized crus – ‘La Cerbaiola’ – in the southeast of Brunello di Montalcino. While only a mere 4-hectare plot of old, low-yielding vines, Giulio Salvioni and his strict standards produce one of the region’s greatest, most sought-after wines from this site. The winemaking is kept traditional and simple. Known for their incredible purity, elegance and long-ageing structure, Salvioni’s small-batch wines are a true triumph for artisanal winemaking in the region.
This lot consists of the following wines:

Salvioni Cerbaiola Rosso di Montalcino 2011
‘Just ruby with a pale rim. Quite savoury and just a little vegetal, but otherwise quite reluctant on the nose. Sweet fruit palate with real transparency and elegance. Animating, gravelly tannin. A complete whole, if very young.’ - Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (Feb 2013)
Salvioni Cerbaiola Rosso di Montalcino 2016
‘Powerful and virile, with tons of personality, the 2016 is terrific. grilled herbs, smoke, tobacco, licorice and menthol wrap around a core of dark Sanguivese fruit on this brooding, intense Rosso from the Salvioni family. The savory qualities of Sangiovese come through beautifully here. This is such a gorgeous Rosso.’ - Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 93/100 (Sep 2019)
Salvioni Cerbaiola Rosso di Montalcino 2017
‘Full bodied, smooth and savory, this youthful fragrant red opens with inviting aromas of black-skinned berry, rose, new leather and a whiff of camphor. The juicy delicious palate doles out fleshy Marasca cherry, raspberry compote and baking spice while taut polished tannins provide the framework. Drink 2020–2023.’ - Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, 93/100, (Jun 2019)
