Mastroberardino Taurasi Radici 2006
‘The 2006 Taurasi Radici hits the palate with masses of blueberries, black berries, flowers and spices. The 2006 is a big, explosive wine in need of considerable cellaring. That said, it is remarkably accessible for a young Taurasi from this historic property. Layers of fruit continue to build towards the exotic, concentrated finish. This is a marvelous wine in the making. The 2006 spent two years in a combination of casks and smaller French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2046.’ - Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, 95/100, (May 2011)
‘Deep crimson. Hot and the scents of a hay bale. Quite notable acidity. Very firm tannins on the finish. Really very youthful in terms of tannin though the fruit weight is only medium.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Sep 2010)
Tenute della Terre Nere Etna Rosso 2008
‘The 2008 Etna Rosso is a rock-star wine for the money. The purity and depth of the dark red fruit is remarkable, while the finesse in the tannins is commendable for a wine in this price range. Sweet tobacco, flowers and spices linger on the finish. Consider the Etna Rosso a poor man's Burgundy or Barolo. It is a great effort at this level. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016.’ - Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, 89/100 (Jun 2010)
Felsina Berardenga Berardenga Chianti Classico Reserva 2010
‘This gorgeous Chianti Classico has multifaceted aromas of blue flower, red berry, black plum, spice and a whiff of leather. The structured, juicy palate offers a core of ripe black cherry accented by cinnamon-spice and a touch of mocha alongside firm, polished tannins. It has both structure and finesse and should age beautifully. Drink 2015–2022.’ - Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, 93/100 (Apr 2014)
Felsina Berardenga Berardenga Chianti Classico 2012
‘Closed nose but sumptuous fruit on the palate. Balanced, fine tannin. Refreshing acid, moderate length, classic cherry bitterness.’ - Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20 (Nov 2015)
Paolo Manzone Barolo Serralunga D'Alba 2013
'Enticing scents suggesting red-skinned berry, rose petal and pipe tobacco emerge in the glass. The savory palate delivers ripe black cherry, clove and a touch of nutmeg alongside firm tannins and vibrant acidity. Drink 2021–2028.' - Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, 91/100 (May 2018)
Elio Grasso Vigna Martina Barbera d'Alba 2015
'Mid crimson. Full cherry compote nose with hints of dried fruit. The palate is more complex than the nose with great depth of fruit. Lots of racy acidity cutting through plush fruit. Not cheap, but worth the money.’ - Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20 (Mar 2018)
Elio Grasso Dolcetto d'Alba Dei Grassi 2016
‘Perhaps more than any other wine from this celebrated estate, the 2016 Dolcetto d'Alba dei Grassi shows the deft handiwork of the Grasso family. Dolcetto is never an easy grape, but Elio and his son Gianluca produce consistent results year after year. This wine had been bottled shortly before I tasted it (a matter of hours). In fact, I could almost call it a barrel sample. No matter, because the wine showed the varietal pureness and fruity plumpness that I remember from past editions. It is clean, fruit-forward and full of nerve.’ - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 90+/100 (Jun 2017)
Paolo Manzone Mirine Nebbiolo d'Alba 2016
Paolo Scavino Langhe Nebbiolo 2018
‘Succulent cherry and strawberry fruit gets a lift from bright acidity and energetic tannins in this sleek red. Mineral and underbrush flavors come into play on the lingering aftertaste. Drink now through 2024.’ - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 90/100 (Apr 2021)
Paolo Scavino Dolcetto d'Alba 2019
'Boysenberry, kirsch and floral aromas and flavors mark this sleek red. It's concentrated, firming up on the lingering finish. Drink now.' - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 89/100 (2021)
