About this Item
KWV has been a traditional mainstay of the South African wine scene for decades. Founded in the same year Nelson Mandela was born, KWV has seen how the SA wine industry has changed over the years.
Although thought to be from Paarl and Wellington grapes and late-bottled in the 1970s, little is known about this specific wine. With high sugar, low pH and fortification from alcohol, their ability to age is almost unmatched.

Critics Ratings
'Green-tinged with bright yellow, burgundy and brown hues. Notes of baked prunes, raisins, earth, tobacco, star anise, roasted nuts, toffee and cold coffee show off an impressive depth of complexity. The palate is towering and rich with a firm acidity – the decades of ageing have melted the sugary sweetness into waves of joy. Astonishingly pure, yet completely exotic, the finish is hedonistic and extremely long.' - Roland Peens, 95/100 (April 2017)
