About this Item
Château Climens is a Premier Cru Classé Sauternes producer in Bordeaux's Barsac appellation in Graves. Climens' past spans several centuries and has became known as the 'Lord of Barsac'. Since being founded, only five families have owned the estate. This is a rare occurrence and can explain why this single-vineyard property has remained practically unchanged since the date of its creation. Climens is not only famous for its elegant wines, but also for its consistency. Even in less-than-great vintages, the Climens wines are always special – characterised by the finesse and depth born of its unique terroir. Today, Climens is in the capable hands of Bérénice Lurton who takes great care in perpetuating the magic of the château.

Critics Ratings
‘Rich, sweet honeyed orange marmalade aromas. Exotically spiced, highly spiced. Very sweet, even on the finish though the spice adds zest so that it is not cloying. Exotic, infinitely rich, dense and viscous. Enormous but still with such pure fruit on the very long finish. Extraordinary to retain freshness within such an intense wine. RS 162g/l.’ - Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 18.5/20 (May 2009)
‘Loads of honey, maple syrup, dried apricot and spice. Full-bodied, medium-sweet, with a refined, spicy character. Pretty wine. Masses of botrytis. This is refined and long, a racy wine compared with the power and muscle of so many others. Beauty among the beasts. Best after 2012.’ - James Suckling, Wine Spectator, 96/100 (Mar 2006)
