About this Item

1995 Trockenbeerenauslese #10 Zweigelt Rose
2 (1 x 2) 375ml

Alois Kracher is located in Illmitz, which lies on the east bank of the Neusiedlersee – a long and shallow lake in the very south of Austria, near the Hungarian border. This lake is key to the region's success with sweet wines. The vineyards are planted on the shores of the lake and the mist, which develops in autumn, makes it the ideal terroir for the growth of botrytis. This is what provides the basis for the fantastic sweet wines, such as Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese. 'Alois Kracher has a reputation for making Austria's best sweet wines,' wrote Jamie Goode of Wine Anorak, 'it's hard to see how anyone else could do much better.' Alois Kracher, who passed away in 2007, will always be remembered as one of the most important ambassadors for Austrian Wine around the world. Today, Gerhard manages the winery with the help of his partner Yvonne. The range is made up of, undoubtedly, the most widely known Austrian wines, including the world-famous Trockenbeerenauslesen, as well as Beerenauslesen, Auslesen, Eiswein (ice wine) and small amounts of dry white and red wines.
