About this Item

2016 Chenin Blanc
3 (1 x 3) 750ml

The David & Nadia Chenin Blanc from the Swartland focusses on various Old Vine Vineyards, with plantings ranging from 1968 till 1986. The wine is based on granite from the Paardeberg, blended with shale/schist from the east, more clay rich soils from the north and iron rich soils from the western parts of the Swartland. Dry land farmed bush vines have stood the test of time and it showcases the ultimate reason why Chenin blanc is their main focus in the Swartland.

Critics Ratings

'From six different vineyards ranging from 39 to 45 years old. Pear, peach, floral fragrance and some gravel road dustiness on the nose. Concentrated fruit and fresh acidity. Lovely presence and poise. Seamlessly assembled.' - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 94/100 (Jun 2017)

'One of the leaders of the minimal intervention/oxidative pack. 2016 from Paardeberg vines (oldest planted 1960s) has hallmark ethereal white peach & pear tones, trademark dryness & profundity. Scintillating 2015 (5 stars, 95 pts) had hidden depths & sheathed power.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2018, 4.5* (93/100)

'Even the "basic" Chenin Blanc from the Sadies comes from 35-49-year-old vines, sourced from a total of six vineyards on granite, shale, iron and clay soils. Light, refreshing and bone dry, it's an impressive, unirrigated Chenin with pear tart and citrus flavours and bracing acidity. 2018-23.'- Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2017, 93/100

'A real beauty! Aromas of pears and stewed apple. Concentrated flavours enhanced by light oak give a really satisfying weight and length.' - Nancy Gilchrist MW, Decanter.com, 93/100
