About this Item
Considered among the new age icons responsible for the Swartland’s success, and a driving force behind the Swartland Revolution, Adi Badenhorst was one of the first to really believe in the area and purchased Kalmoesfontein back in 2008 with his cousin Hein. Over the last decade, 41 hectares of old vines, the oldest planted back in 1952, have been farmed back to glory. They practice biological farming and make natural wines in the traditional manner.

Critics Ratings
‘A new wine in Adi Badenhorst’s range, this effectively replaces the Dassiekop Steen and was formerly a component of Family White. Floral, waxy and deftly oaked, with an intense minerality from granite soils and notes of apple and greengage. 2017-22’ - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2017, 96/100
‘Conjures up mouthwatering, buttery pastry and ripe apples. Rich and seriously delicious, has immense length.’ – Nancy Gilchrist MW, Decanter.com, 94/100 (Oct 2017)
'From 50 year old single-vineyard named for golden granite soils, 2016 dazzles with ripe yellow fruit - pineapple, apple & quince - spiced up with cinnamon & aniseed. Creamy texture & excellent acidic vein run through to lengthy finish.’ - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2018, 4.5* (93/100)
‘Ripe and rounded in feel, featuring creamed pear and apple fruit flavors mixed with light heather, honey and brioche accents, providing a rich, yet fresh and focused, expression. Drink now through 2019.’ - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Oct 2018)
