About this Item
Straddled between the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountains, with less than 30 hectares of scattered high-altitude vineyards, Keermont was started by the Wraith family in 2003 and was formed by combining 2 adjacent farms. Relaxed yet quality-focused Alex Starey has been in charge of the wines since redevelopment and planting in 2005, producing the maiden 2007.

'From a vineyard planted in 1971. Fermented and matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, partially new. Subtle and elusive aromatics – hay and dried herbs before citrus and white peach. Pure fruit, bright acidity and a pithy finish. Nothing too obvious and beautifully balanced, this is a wine of particular elegance.' - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 94/100 (Nov 2016)
‘The 2015 Riverside Chenin Blanc spends around 12 months in 500-liter oak barrels and around one-third new oak. Alex told me that he tries to buy neutral barrels to limit their influence on the taste and there is no bâtonnage. It has a very seductive bouquet of lemon curd, custard crème and a touch of vanilla, very subtle though and extremely delineated. The palate is fresh on the entry with lime, sour lemon and Cornice pear notes, the acidity well judged and demonstrating fine weight and detail on the finish. This is a thoroughbred Chenin Blanc that will offer a decade's worth of pleasure. Just 1,994 bottles produced, so grab one.’ - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 93/100 (Apr 2017)
‘Delicate scents of white melon, orange rind, pressed wild flowers, quinine and barely-toasted apple skin dance in the bouquet of this attractive wine. Clean, precise flavors of apple flesh, Anjou pear and lime unfold on the medium-weight palate, while vibrant acidity enlivens the mouthfeel and results in a bright, mouthwatering finish. Drink now–2023.’ – Lauren Buzzeo, Wine Enthusiast, 91/100 (Apr 2018)
‘A lean nose on this Chenin with touches of lanolin and beeswax. Quite a sharp palate with plenty of peppercorn and lime juice that is vibrant but a touch linear in style.’ – Stephen Brook, Decanter.com, 90/100
