About this Item

2010 FMC
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Ken Forrester Wines was established in the early 1990s after Johannesburg resident and restauranteur, Ken Forrester fell in love with this Stellenbosch property. Together with Martin Meinert, they audaciously created a flagship Chenin Blanc called FMC (Forrester, Meinert Chenin). Sourced from vines planted in 1967, it set the world benchmark for New World Chenin and started SA’s Chenin revolution.

Nederburg Auction Selection 2018.

Critics Ratings

‘The 2010 The FMC is aged in new 400-liter French barrels and is touched by a little botrytized fruit. It has a quality nose with lemon curd, beeswax and dried pineapple with great focus and poise. The palate is imbued with a sense of exuberance and poise, the acidity counterpoising the apricot, passion fruit and pineapple notes with style. It is very complex and finely tuned, a worthy follow-up to the fabulous 2009. Drink now-2020+’ - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 92/100 (Dec 2012)

‘Always individualistic chenin, spontaneously fermented in all-new oak. 2010 hugely complex, with notes of beeswax, earth & spice to go with yellow fruit. Sweet on entry, smooth texture but then tangy acidity kicks in, finishing long & dry. Home-farm grapes, as next.’ - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2013, 4.5*

‘Full, bright, deep yellow-gold. At once decadent and fresh on the nose, with sexy flavors of dried apricot, peach nectar and spices. Plush, rich and seamless, with a glyceral texture and a considerable botrytis component to the tropical fruit, honey and spice flavors. Brisk acidity hides the wine's moderate sweetness on the very long finish. I'd wait a year or two for more complexity but this is already a beauty.’ – Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 91/100 (May 2013)

‘Nicely toasty but well-integrated, with a lovely buttered brioche and toasted macadamia nut frame to the core of creamed melon, fig and pear fruit. The long, lush finish lets in a flicker of honeysuckle. Shows depth and grace. Drink now through 2015.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Nov 2012)
