Critics Ratings
'One of those wines that's always fun to slip in to a blind line up - few would guess that a Pinotage of this quality comes from Elgin - this shale and clay-based wine is serious stuff: scented, dense, brambly and stylishly oaked, with plenty of tannin, concentration and acidity. 2020-28' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 94/100
'Both sweeter-fruited & more austere than 1900 version; 2017 also made in a refined style with good acidity, but a touch less harmoniously proportioned in youth, the tannins drier (abetted by a little more new oak). A few years will bring out more charm.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2019, 4.5* (90/100)
'A red-fruited wine on the nose, the 2017 Pinotage has a dusty minerality, purple flowers and cherry skin. The palate shows a subtle flavor of blanched almond skin before expressing a food-friendly, tannic grip. Medium-bodied, the wine lingers with dusty plum skin and drying tannins. I recommend this wine with food.' - Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate (Mar 2020)
