About this Item
Jérôme Prévost’s Champagne La Closerie was founded in 1998, after taking over his grandmother’s two hectares vineyard of Les Beguines, planted with massale selection Meunier in the Montagne de Reims village of Gueux. Like his fellow “Champagne Renegades”, Prévost focuses on site-specific bottlings primarily dedicated to one grape and one vintage. In order to achieve a textured, terroir-transparent style, he works toward extremely low yields and no chemical additives in the vineyard. The intensity, power and precision of Prévost Champagnes, combined with Jérôme’s thoughtful, comedic approach, has resulted in a cult following for the man and his wines.

Critics Ratings
‘The NV Extra Brut Les Béguines LC 10 is at its apogee today, bursting with aromas of pear, peach, honeycomb, toasted nuts, vanilla pod and spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and lively, it's fleshy and concentrated, with lovely depth and textural plenitude. It isn't quite as long on the finish as years such as 2012 or 2013, but it's a beautiful wine.’ - William Kelley, Wine Advocate, 94/100 (Sep 2021)
‘Not much nose. Pale pale gold. A dense, sour-dough bread smell. Again, that uncompromising acidity. So spiky and upright and practically exploding with zest and energy. Rich and concentrated, pears and spice. Fine mousse. Chewy and textured. Very angular and edgy.’ - Tamlyn Currin, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (May 2011)
‘Though officially a non-vintage, this is always the wine of a single year. The most exotic Meunier in Champagne. Burnished gold; toasty, spicy aromas; tastes like brioche straight from the oven. Masterly use of oak.’ - Michael Edwards, Decanter.com, 90/100 (Jul 2011)
