About this Item
Bérêche et Fils is a historic Champagne house, founded in 1847, situated near the town of Le Craon de Ludes. The estate’s vineyards are divided into 21 parcels - 10 hectares spread across Montagne de Reims and Vallée de la Marne - planted to a combination of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. The estate is currently run by brothers Raphaël and Vincent Bérêche, who have expanded the family’s holdings in recent years to include grand cru vineyards, and converted the estate to organic farming methods and have also begun to use biodynamic viticultural practices.
Organic Farming
Farmed and made according to organic practices. Main reason for not being certified is to allow for intervention should it be deemed necessary to maintain production.
Self-regulated application of the below practices in vineyard and/or cellar.
No use of synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, or herbicides. Use of certain cover crops, methods of soil care, and other specified vineyard care.
Wine made according to strict standards - use of approved, organic yeast, and no added sulfites or other specified additives. Does not imply that the wine is vegan (allows for specified fining agents (including egg whites) and enzymes). In certain regions this is extended to chaptalisation and acid addition.
These bottles were disgorged in December 2014.

Critics Ratings
‘This lip-smacking version is framed by laserlike acidity, and while a streak of salinity, a pure note of ripe white cherry and flavors of slivered almond, mandarin orange peel and ground ginger are expressive, this austere style calls out for food to shine. 333 cases made.’ - Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, 91/100 (Oct 2016)
