About this Item
Domaine de la Pousse D’Or is situated in the town of Volnay, and produces distinguished wines from 17 hectares of vineyards located in some of the most prestigious villages on both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Patrick Landanger and his son, Benoît have taken charge of the vineyards and winemaking since 1997. Biodynamic practices in the vines and organic-controlled vinification contribute to the exceptional balance and quality of the wines.
Biodynamic Farming
Farmed and made according to biodynamic practices, but not certified. Often accompanied with organic farming practices.
Biodynamic farming uses no synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Biodynamic farming works to achieve soil health through the use of compost, animal and green manures; diversified crop rotations; and incorporation of livestock. However, the two agricultural systems differ in that biodynamic farmers rely on eight specific preparations for the soil, crops and compost to enhance soil and plant quality, and to stimulate the composting process. The eight preparations, designated by their ingredients or by numbers 500 to 507, are made from cow manure; silica; the flowers of yarrow, chamomile, dandelion and valerian; oak bark; and the stinging nettle plant. A ninth prep, often referred to as 508, is made from horsetail and is used for fungal disease.

Critics Ratings
‘Here the expressive nose is almost as elegant and even spicier with its dark Pinot fruit, sandalwood and floral-scented aromas. There is the same lovely texture to the vibrant medium weight flavors that possess admirable mid-palate concentration before terminating in a palate coating, youthfully austere and firmly structured finish. This will clearly need plenty of cellar time to soften the firm tannic spine yet it should be approachable after only 5 to 7 years.
