About this Item
Château La Conseillante is one of the finest producers in Pomerol and can trace its history back to 1735. It has been in the Nicolas family since 1871. The property’s 13 hectares of vineyards lie on a plateau in eastern Pomerol bordering Saint-Émilion with neighbouring vineyards belonging to L`Evangile, Petit-Village, Vieux Château-Certan and Cheval Blanc. Château La Conseillante’s motto used to be ‘faire peu, mais faire bon’ – ‘do little, but do it well’, which Decanter notes, ‘is something that all the great estates of Pomerol seem to have mastered.’
Organic Farming
Farmed and made according to organic practices. Main reason for not being certified is to allow for intervention should it be deemed necessary to maintain production.
Self-regulated application of the below practices in vineyard and/or cellar.
No use of synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, or herbicides. Use of certain cover crops, methods of soil care, and other specified vineyard care.
Wine made according to strict standards - use of approved, organic yeast, and no added sulfites or other specified additives. Does not imply that the wine is vegan (allows for specified fining agents (including egg whites) and enzymes). In certain regions this is extended to chaptalisation and acid addition.

Critics Ratings
‘The quintessential elegant style of Pomerol, the 2011 La Conseillante offers copious aromas of raspberries, mulberries and spring flowers. Medium-bodied with pure fruit, seamlessly integrated tannin, acidity and wood, and a soft, velvety textured finish, this classic effort is ethereal in its elegance and precision. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.’ - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 92/100 (Apr 2014)
‘Glowing deep garnet. Heady, opulent, seductive. Tannins have receded to leave a silky, flattering, very polished wine.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Oct 2021)
