About the Session

Just how well do modern-era South African wines perform as they get older ? One of the most important measures of great wine is that it should be age-worthy, that is it should become more pleasurable and more interesting to drink with time in the bottle.

About this Item

2013 Cabernet Sauvignon
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Meerlust Estate, owned by the Myburgh family, has been in the family for eight generations. Located 5km from False Bay, the property was given the name 'Meerlust' from the original owner, which means 'pleasure of the sea'. The Meerlust name is synonymous with tradition, elegance and longevity. In fact, it was their Cabernet Sauvignon, produced since 1975, that was the first to carry the Meerlust label.

Critics Ratings

'Classic Stellenbosch Cab: brambly fruit with cedar, spice & touch of fynbos/dried herb. All building blocks - polished cassis fruit, lithe tannins, judicious oaking (70% new), invigorating acid & moderate 13.5% alcohol - in place, melded & balanced in svelte 2013.' – Platter's SA Wine Guide 2017, 4,5*
