About the Session

Just how well do modern-era South African wines perform as they get older ? One of the most important measures of great wine is that it should be age-worthy, that is it should become more pleasurable and more interesting to drink with time in the bottle.

Critics Ratings

Pofadder 2013:
'This unfined, unfiltered, dry farmed Cinsaut tastes like a cross between a Sangiovese and a Pinot Noir, with rose petal and red cherry aromas, savoury tannins and a refreshing, well balanced palate. There's more tannin here than the pale colour would suggest. Drink: 2014-20.' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2014, 95/100

Skerpioen 2013:
'Packed with yellow apple chutney, white ginger, green almond and glazed pear notes at the core, this shows subtle verbena, talc, blanched almond and honeysuckle flavors that ripple through the pure finish. Chenin Blanc and Palomino. Drink now through 2023.' - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 93/100 (Feb 2018)
