About the SessionJust how well do modern-era South African wines perform as they get older ? One of the most important measures of great wine is that it should be age-worthy, that is it should become more pleasurable and more interesting to drink with time in the bottle.

Critics Ratings
'Saronsberg’s reds tend to be made in a bigger, plusher style than many Cape Syrahs. The palate is certainly ripe here, but the wine has plenty of varietal character with notes of crushed rock, blackberry and iodine, subtle oak, and a fresh, stony finish. Drink: 2015-20.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2015, 94/100
'The 2013 Shiraz has a slightly broody nose compared to the 2012, a little earthier and less fruit-driven perhaps, though still nicely defined. The palate is better - quite succulent in the mouth with plenty of sweet black cherries and blueberry mixed with a dash of soy, although the finish would benefit from more finesse. This is a very decent Shiraz, though I probably prefer last year's release.' – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 88/100 (Nov 2015)
