About the SessionJust how well do modern-era South African wines perform as they get older ? One of the most important measures of great wine is that it should be age-worthy, that is it should become more pleasurable and more interesting to drink with time in the bottle.

'The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère has a comparatively straightforward if well-defined bouquet although it does not have the cohesion and complexity of Boillot's Les Perrières. The palate has a brisk and stony entry. There is plenty of salinity here: strict and precise with quite a punchy sea-influenced finish. It calls out for a plate of fruits de mer that would counterbalance its terseness.' - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 91/100 (May 2016)
'An old favourite… Dense and rich with a top note of struck matches and some of the delicacy that has been missing from some of these Lea & Sandeman white burgundies. I can't see how anyone would fail to be pleased by this - at a price. Okay, it's not subtle but… Long.' - Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 18/20 (Jan 2015)
'Medium straw-yellow. Musky aromas of peach, apricot and ginger; more soil driven and less exotic than the village Puligny. Supply, silky and highly concentrated, offering extremely smooth flavors of stone fruits and flowers. An outstanding 2013 with a very long, pliant back end. Boillot describes this as "the best wine of the cave in 2013".' - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 93/100 (May 2015)
