About the SessionJust how well do modern-era South African wines perform as they get older ? One of the most important measures of great wine is that it should be age-worthy, that is it should become more pleasurable and more interesting to drink with time in the bottle.

Critics Ratings
‘Violet whiffs seduce while the broad, dry & intense palate continues the affair. 2013 expressive, nuanced, layered & integrated; dry, fine tannin grip. Swartland fruit joins Wellington, as in 2012 (5 stars, 96 pts). 25 months old oak. Natural ferment, 20% whole bunches.’– Platter's SA Wine Guide, 4.5*
‘Vivid and ripe, with lush blueberry compote and plum sauce flavors streaming forth, backed by spice cake and black tea notes. Offers a deftly toasted finish. Pure hedonism.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 91/100 (May 2016)
'It has a very controlled bouquet, nicely defined but not quite "letting go" as I would have expected. Gradually there are hints of wild mint and violet emerging, imparting more varietal character, I think manifested much by the Porseleinberg fruit that constitutes 25% of the current blend. The palate is more comfortable in its own skin: nicely defined with fine grainy tannin, pure and quite minerally red berry fruit with a composed, very refined finish. This is a well crafted Syrah from Boekenhoutskloof.' – Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 91/100 (Nov 2015)
