“Only three still-lifes by Kottler are known: Vase with Dahlias (PPL. I9), Still-life with Bronze Buddha or Still-life with Blue, Red and White Flowers (PPI. 20) and Still-life with Coffee-pot or Still-life with Orange and Pale Yellow Flowers (PPL. 21). A. Z. Berman bought the Dahlias from Kottler in 1920 to give it as a wedding-present to the present owner; the two other still-lifes were at some time or other acquired by Boonzaier's friend Bernard Lewis”1
