A Cape stinkwood and beefwood silver-mounted cabinet-on-stand, late 18th/early 19th century
the moulded arched cornice above a pair of panelled doors enclosing two shelves and three drawers, the lower half with a long drawer, on ring-turned tapering octagonal legs joined by an X-shaped stretcher centred by an oval ebonized boss inlaid with an ebony and bone compass, applied with Cape silver handles and escutcheon plates by Samuel Freemantle, the handles marked FS 150/200, restorations, 241cm high, 167cm wide, 64cm deep
