About this Item

2007 Aeon
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Haskell Vineyards graces the slopes of the Helderberg mountain range in Stellenbosch, an area known as the “Golden Triangle”, widely recognized as one of South Africa’s finest wine-growing sub-regions and home to many of South Africa’s top wines.

In 2002, American/Russian property tycoon Preston Haskell IV purchased the farm Dombeya (originally part of neighbouring Rust & Vrede) and renamed it Haskell Vineyards. Shortly thereafter, Rianie Strydom joined Haskell as Winemaker and GM, and soon became the first woman to be offered membership of the Cape Winemakers Guild.

This debut release of the Aeon from the stellar 2007 vintage created instant recognition for Haskell along with flagship sibling Syrah label, 'The Pillars'.

'Strong purple-red; a rich, voluptuous wine with abundant blackberry and plum fruit, soft tannins and plenty of quality oak. 94 points; drink to 2020' - James Halliday, Wine Companion 2011, 94/100

'Dense and complex 2007 has intense blackberries, layers spice, herbs & fresh plums. Firm, textured tannins that still need time to knit. Lively, enduring. Good potential. Includes 5% Mourvedre. Unfiltered, 16 months 40% new French oak.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2010, 4.5*
