Established in 2007 by the dynamic husband-and-wife team, Chris and Andrea Mullineux have, in a very short space of time, established Mullineux Family Wines as one of South Africa’s most celebrated producers. Their track record speaks for itself: Awarded Wine Enthusiast’s International Winemaker of the Year in 2016, Tim Atkin’s SA Winemakers of the Year in 2017, and three times Platter’s Winery of the Year (2014, 2016 and 2019).
The Iron Syrah forms part of three varietal Syrahs in the Terroir Specific range. Sourced from a single parcel of organically farmed dryland bushvines on iron-rich soils west of Malmesbury, the 2013 was Platter's Red Wine of the Year in 2016.

Critics Ratings
'This edition's preeminent red wine is from an organically farmed parcel outside Malmesbury, on iron soil, with corresponding ferrous/savoury nuance. Deeper hued and firmer structured than the Schist stablemate but with similar white pepper perfume. Complex, muscular but sleek and more Integrated and balanced than debut 2012.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2016, 5*
'It’s always difficult to choose between the three soil-specific Syrahs at this brilliant winery, and this is only the second vintage of this wine, but it’s still a belter. The site is warm, but the 100% whole bunches bring freshness to the rich, sweet, dense, peppery, black-fruited flavours. Drink: 2016-25' - Tim Atkin SA Wine Report 2015, 95/100
