A Chinese famille-verte jar and cover
of baluster outline, the front decorated with a courtier, two young boys and an attendant carrying a wine vessel before a balustraded garden and a scholar's table set with attributes, the reverse panel painted with a warrior bidding farewell to his courtesan, his attendant holding the reigns of his horse, the whole enclosed by scrolling foliage and chrysanthemums, the shoulder with lappet, Greek-key and foliate borders, the cover similarly decorated and surmounted by a spire-shaped finial, 42cm high
