About this Item
Graham's is a prominent Port house in the Douro Valley of northern Portugal.
The company begun as a textile company in the early 1800s by brothers William and John Graham in Glasgow, who received a barrel of Port as payment for a debt. The business grew from there, and today, Graham's is owned by the Symington family who own several other port houses, including Dow's and Warre's. The Quinta dos Malvedos vineyard provides many of the grapes for Graham's vintage ports, and is considered one of the company's finest holdings, acquired in 1890. The Graham's cellar is located across the river from Porto in Vila Nova de Gaia, and is home to the house's extensive collection of aging ports.

Critics Ratings
‘Graham is the undisputed star and kingpin of the 1985 vintage ports. Yes, it is made in a sweeter style than the other ports, but it is a fabulous wine because of a dazzling level of black-cherry fruit, an enormous structure, and staggering depth, dimension, and length. It is forward, as are all 1985s, and I would speculate that this port will be approaching maturity by 1992-93 and will keep 15-20 years thereafter.’ - Robert Parker Jr, Wine Advocate, 96/100 (Jan 1989)
‘Deep garnet. A touch of spirit alongside lifted floral notes, with smoky minerality and underlying red fruit. Rich, sweet, full bodied and silky. Long, Christmas-cake finish, though the alcohol is again evident, taking this away from being in the top flight.’ - Tim Jackson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (Sep 2020)
‘Dark color, with intense aromas of blackberry, licorice and hints of flowers. Full-bodied, lightly sweet, with superrefined tannins. Long and caressing. Very youthful. Will improve for a long time. This is really excellent. Always has been. Just starting to come around.’ - Wine Spectator, 96/100 (Feb 2008)
