'Ferreira Ruby Port has an intense and well defined ruby hue, showing the quality of the selected wines. Its intense aroma is reminiscent of very ripe fruit, fine-tuned through its careful ageing in wood as well as through the blending carried out during its natural ageing process. ‘Fonseca has scored in both the 1991 and 1992 vintages. The 1991 Guimaraens is the most impressive bottle I have tasted of this offering. The opaque purple color, and sweet, copious aromas of cassis, licorice, and flowers, are followed by a supple, rich, full-bodied, precocious tasting port that is already easy to drink. While it will be quick to develop, it still requires another 4-5 years of aging.
