About this Item
This extremely rare 1989 expression from the long-closed distillery was aged for 29 years, enjoying a double maturation in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry-seasoned bodega casks before being bottled at 51.4%
With a release of only 4976 bottles As a closed distillery, stocks of Pittyvaich are increasingly rare and this gorgeous special release opens with notes of bright, slightly green malt, accompanied by banana loaf, ginger and baked apples. Then sultanas, toffee, tea cake, roasted nuts, dark toasted oak, sherry and hints of cinnamon.

Critics Ratings
'Distilled in 1989 and matured first in Pedro Ximénez, then in oloroso sherry-seasoned casks. Delicate and restrained on the nose, with apple, pear drops, ginger, and malt. Initially, sweet sherry, then dark berry fruits emerge on the supple palate, with oatmeal stout. More apples, and ginger, plus prunes and chili in the long, warming finish. An excellent release from an underrated closed distillery.' - Whisky Advocate, 93/100 (Dec 2019)
