A pair of Japanese Kutani vases, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
cylindrical with a bulbous base, the sides applied with gilt cicada handles, one vase painted with a panel of a rooster, the other with a hen, both painted with a panel of two maidens in a landscape, the whole with rabbits, bats, flowerhead medallions and cell diaper borders, chip to one rim, now converted to lamps and fixed to stands, fitted for electricity, the vases 36cm high
