This print is from the Peasants' Revolt [Bauernkrieg] series. One of many social upheavals during the Reformation in Germany, rather than being religious in nature, this revolt of 1522-5 was a protest against the poor living conditions of the peasantry.
Another impression from the edition forms part of the British Museum Collection, no. 1949.0411.3940.
