About this Item

2007 Barbaresco Santo Stefano
1 (1 x 1) 1500ml

Owned by the Stupino family, the Castello di Neive estate has an long history, closely tied to the town of Neive, its wines and to Barbaresco in particular. Italo Stupino, an engineer by trade, developed a scientific approach to both the vineyards and the countryside. While maintaining tradition was important to him, nothing could be taken for granted and it was always crucial to aim for better results. Since 1970, a collaboration with the University of Turin has helped to place the family-owned winery as leaders of the wine market. Tradition, research and creativity; this is the philosophy of a company that, without neglecting the heritage of centuries of winemaking, embraces new technology, is active in research –bo th in the vineyard and in the cellar – and is ready to assume risk and experiment.

The austere elegance of the Santo Stefano vineyard, an outstanding vineyard of the Langhe.

Critics Ratings

‘The 2007 Barbaresco Albesani Santo Stefano shows the weight and richness that is typical of this south-facing site in Neive. A rich fabric of dark fruit, fresh roses, new leather and menthol completely cover the palate. The Santo Stefano is impeccable in its generous, enveloping fruit. The intensity and sheer depth of the fruit manages to virtually bury the tannins, but they are there. As delicious as this is today, it will be even better in a few years- time. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027.’ – Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, 95/100 (Dec 2010)

‘Barbaresco Santo Stefano offers intensity, harmony and imparts delicious aromas of sweet spice, wild berries, licorice, tar and light touches of smoke or graphite. It boasts a smooth, rich texture with bright acidity on the close. This is a very pure and pristine expression of Nebbiolo that will live long in the cellar.’ – Wine Enthusiast, 94/100 (Dec 2010)
