About this Item
Founded in 1896 by Giovanni Massolino, Massolino is a family-owned winery run by fourth-generation brothers Franco and Roberto Massolino. The property, located in the heart of Serralunga d’Alba, owns 15 hectares of vineyards and is best known for its classic Barolo, which was first produced in 1911. However, the three single-vineyard Barolo wines from the crus of Margheria, Parafada and Vigna Rionda are Massolino’s premier and most highly-rated bottlings. The Massolino wines are incredibly complex, offering great ageing potential.

Critics Ratings
'Massolino delivers a beautiful Barolo with delicate, silky strokes of small berry, white pepper, asphalt, tar, smoke and cured meat. On the palate, it shows, power, smooth tannins and excellent length. Pair this with roast pork and baked prune.' - Wine Enthusiast, 95/100 (Sep 2012)
‘The 2007 Barolo Margheria is fabulously ripe and explosive in its dark red fruit, leather, licorice and anise. Medium to full in body, the Margheria possesses superb delineation and nuance to match its elegant personality. This turns exuberant again on the finish, where floral, minty notes add lift and freshness. The 2007 Margheria is a wonderfully complete, regal Barolo from Massolino with a bright future ahead of it.’ - Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 94/100 (Feb 2011)
‘Very rich on the palate but pretty ethereal on the nose – just what you want from a mature Barolo.’ - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Mar 2017)
'Very Burgundian in style, this red delivers strawberry and cherry flavors, accented by notes of herbs and underbrush. Still a bit stingy on the finish, but the balance is there, so be patient. Best from 2015 through 2029.' - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 93/100 (Mar 2012)
